PAPER SIZES

The orientation of the paper is usually termed as Portrait or Landscape. Portrait is named after portrait images of people where the long edge is vertical. Landscape is named after geological images where the long edge is horizontal.

Most shops or businesses use ANSI A or B paper size. Some manufacturers have specific paper sizes they want their drawings submitted in. They also might want certain standards or fonts or types of dimensions used. For selecting paper with most printers you will see the paper size listed with names. 

Often the ANSI-A-(8 1/2" X 11") are called "Letter" and the
ANSI-B-(11" X 17") are called "Tabloid".
